Saturday Morning Business

 

The morning session began with an Order of Morning Prayer led by the youth of the conference.

Following the brief service, the Annual Meeting  of the Membership of the United Methodist Foundation of Western North Carolina was convened by Tom Jordan and David Snipes.  They presented their glowing report of a year of growth for the foundation, and presented the conference with a check of $30,000 dollars to assist with the Bishop's Leadership Initiative.


The Conference Council on on Finance and Administration presented the 2019 budget and the budget was passed.  See the report of CF&A , and the budget petitions on pp. 18-24 in the Supplement to the Program and Reports Book. The total conference budget for 2019 $16,166, 481 dollars.  See Treasurer's comment slides.

Proposed Constitutional Amendment #1 (see p. 17 in the Supplement) was voted on by the Annual Conference.  The votes will be tabulated by the officers of the General Conference and reported later in the year.

Bishop Kenneth Carter of the Florida Conference, who is also the President of the Council of Bishops and one of the moderators of the Commission on the Way Forward presented on the Commission's work and the upcoming 2019 called General Conference.
