BOTH/AND Advent Worship Planning (And Resource)

We believe that deep, meaningful, creative worship isn’t just for large tech-savvy churches with big budgets. It’s also not for churches who only do “contemporary” worship. It’s not limited to churches with bands, multiple cameras, fancy software, and other cutting-edge technology. Transformational creative worship is available to any church willing to be more intentional about how worship is crafted. We also believe ALL of us are still learning the best way to connect with BOTH our In-person AND our online worship participants.

SO – we are inviting you to join Jason Moore for a quick hour of worship planning!  We will go through an Advent Worship Series (That Jason has already written) to practice tangible ways we need to adapt our language, structure, media, and interactive response to be more mindful of BOTH/AND Hybrid worship practices. Those of us who gather will take about an hour to “Revise” the Advent series, “Unwrapping Christmas” and discern and collaborate ways we can adapt it to specifically be geared toward BOTH/AND congregations. If you are a creative and/or a planner AND want to experience another facet of worship design, we hope you join us.

This is a PRACTICAL, hands-on experience. There won’t be a presentation about BOTH/AND! Instead, we are offering an opportunity to practice the principles of BOTH/AND - with something that we can then actually USE in our churches during Advent this year.

What’s in it for you?  You will get to utilize the product of your work!
Participating this evening will also result in your church having FREE access to the REVISED resource set that is designed to help you with planning Advent in 2021. Resources will include a series outline (with theme suggestions), bumper video, social media graphics, worship media, bulletin covers, creatively written pieces, interactive responses, and more.

Once you have registered, you will receive the Zoom Link to join us on Oct 20th at 6:30 pm.

OTHER:

The Appalachian District Church Vitality Team has been prayerfully seeking ways to help support you and the ministries of your local congregation during this COVID-19 pandemic. Together they have diligently researched and connected with others throughout the conference and our denomination to identify resources and offer them to you. We hope they will be helpful to you and bless you greatly in leading your churches and communities through this unprecedented time. We are very grateful to the District Vitality Team and other contributors for their great work on this resource.

This faithful team has created three documents, two of which you are receiving today. They include:

  • Family Home Worship – designed to help families establish a regular worship space within their homes as well as a time where they can worship together.
  • Tech Strategies – to help guide you in selecting effective tools and resources within your budget to best communicate in the digital world.

We believe these resources will be of great benefit to you. Also know that the District Vitality Team is available to answer any questions you might have in regards to the documents attached. If you have questions, you may email Rev. Howard Fleming at hfleming@wnccumc.net.
