Get involved in Youth Ministry Coaching Program

Since 2011, the Western North Carolina Conference has offered whole-life coaching focusing on transformation and youth ministry development through a Youth Ministry Coaching Program (YMCP)  by the Youth Cartel. Today more than sixty youth leaders in our conference have participated in this program. Through the intentional nature of this program, we have seen a significant change in the lives of youth workers, their ministries, and the church.

“This group has provided me a life altering experience.  I have been encouraged and grown through lessons, coaching, spiritual direction, book discussions, personal sharing, and more.  It has also connected me to other youth workers that have become more than colleagues, but friends as well.  I always look forward to my cohort meetings. “

-Andy Tuttle- Muirs Chapel UMC

New for 2017-2018, the WNCC is offering a level 1 and Level 2 cohort. Level 1 is for anyone working in the area of youth ministry. Level 2 is for individuals who have completed a Level 1 and would like to continue growing as a transformational leader.  The Level 2 will start in the spring 2017 and Level 1 will begin in the fall 2017. Registration is open for both cohorts but space is limited. What is a cohort? A YMCP cohort is a group of 10 people who commit to meeting regularly together for a year of learning. The Appalachian District Church Vitality Team has been prayerfully seeking ways to help support you and the ministries of your local congregation during this COVID-19 pandemic. Together they have diligently researched and connected with others throughout the conference and our denomination to identify resources and offer them to you. We hope they will be helpful to you and bless you greatly in leading your churches and communities through this unprecedented time. We are very grateful to the District Vitality Team and other contributors for their great work on this resource.
This faithful team has created three documents, two of which you are receiving today. They include:

  • Family Home Worship – designed to help families establish a regular worship space within their homes as well as a time where they can worship together.
  • Tech Strategies – to help guide you in selecting effective tools and resources within your budget to best communicate in the digital world.

We believe these resources will be of great benefit to you. Also know that the District Vitality Team is available to answer any questions you might have in regards to the documents attached. If you have questions, you may email Rev. Howard Fleming at
