Youth Groups Invited to Lake Junaluska for Unforgettable Summer Retreats
LAKE JUNALUSKA, N.C. –
This summer Lake Junaluska is hosting four youth group retreats for sixth through 12th graders. Youth groups of all denominations are invited to attend.
The retreats include high energy worship, guest preachers, mission components and special meals. Afternoons are free for groups to plan rafting trips, zip line adventures, hikes, additional service projects or enjoy the swimming pool or boats at Lake Junaluska.
Lake Junaluska Summer Youth Event speakers and worship bands include:
- June 24-26: 2-night event featuring Kevin Wright and Jimmy Atkins
- July 7-10: 3-night event featuring Steve Cheyney and Abbye West-Pates
- June 10-14: 4-night event featuring Andy Lambert and Abbye West-Pates
- July 14-17: 3-night event featuring Duffy Robbins and Abbye West-Pates
This year’s theme is “Overwhelmed with Joy”, based on Matthew 2:10—“When they saw the star that had stopped, they were overwhelmed with joy.” The retreats will focus on giving, service, encountering Christ and celebrating the joy of Jesus.
In an on-site mission project, participants will package Christmas Shoeboxes for youth in Armenia through Project Agape Armenia.
Registration is now open. Packages include dinner on the first night through breakfast on the last day, housing, and program. Two, three and four-night packages are available, starting from $170/person.

The Appalachian District Church Vitality Team has been prayerfully seeking ways to help support you and the ministries of your local congregation during this COVID-19 pandemic. Together they have diligently researched and connected with others throughout the conference and our denomination to identify resources and offer them to you. We hope they will be helpful to you and bless you greatly in leading your churches and communities through this unprecedented time. We are very grateful to the District Vitality Team and other contributors for their great work on this resource.
This faithful team has created three documents, two of which you are receiving today. They include:
- Family Home Worship – designed to help families establish a regular worship space within their homes as well as a time where they can worship together.
- Tech Strategies – to help guide you in selecting effective tools and resources within your budget to best communicate in the digital world.
We believe these resources will be of great benefit to you. Also know that the District Vitality Team is available to answer any questions you might have in regards to the documents attached. If you have questions, you may email Rev. Howard Fleming at firstname.lastname@example.org.
