Celebrate Golden Cross Sunday

(PLEASE NOTE THAT GOLDEN CROSS WAS DISSOLVED IN 2017)

Golden Cross
is a ministry that reaches out in love to the laity in our Annual Conference who are experiencing financial difficulty due to excessive medical expenses. Each year, Golden Cross has impacted the lives of numbers of families in the NC Conference. Each outreach effort represented someone active in his or her local church - people just like each of us - who in a moment of struggle found means of grace and love coming from “their” church. Let us work to extend this critical ministry.  We can, but we need your help!  The local church is offered the opportunity to make a huge difference in how many laity can be helped.  Please prayerfully consider giving to this ministry of compassion that reaches out to so many in need. Medical bills can devastate the financial and emotional health of a family.  At a time when so many lack adequate medical coverage, Golden Cross offers the laity in our Conference not only financial assistance, but the hand and heart of hope. To help others with their needs, simply make a gift to Golden Cross through your local church. 100% of your gift will go to someone in the midst of deep crisis and you will, as Paul states, bear the burden of another and so fulfill the law of Christ. For any questions or more information, call: Golden Cross Director -Rev. Thomas R. Hunter (336) 368-4548

OTHER:

The Appalachian District Church Vitality Team has been prayerfully seeking ways to help support you and the ministries of your local congregation during this COVID-19 pandemic. Together they have diligently researched and connected with others throughout the conference and our denomination to identify resources and offer them to you. We hope they will be helpful to you and bless you greatly in leading your churches and communities through this unprecedented time. We are very grateful to the District Vitality Team and other contributors for their great work on this resource.

This faithful team has created three documents, two of which you are receiving today. They include:

  • Family Home Worship – designed to help families establish a regular worship space within their homes as well as a time where they can worship together.
  • Tech Strategies – to help guide you in selecting effective tools and resources within your budget to best communicate in the digital world.

We believe these resources will be of great benefit to you. Also know that the District Vitality Team is available to answer any questions you might have in regards to the documents attached. If you have questions, you may email Rev. Howard Fleming at hfleming@wnccumc.net.
