Fuel your ministry with a Reynolds grant

The Reynolds Ministry Fund supports initiatives that invite new believers into a relationship with Christ. The Foundation is now accepting applications for 2022 grants. In 2021, the Reynolds Ministries Team awarded nearly $500,000 in grant awards to more than two dozen ministries.

Applications submitted by March 1 will be reviewed by the Reynolds Ministries Team during the month of March. Award decisions will be announced before Easter.

In Surry County, a Reynolds grant supported the Little Free Pantry of Surry Community College – a free community resource with non-perishable foods and things like diapers, shampoo and tooth brushes. It has become a vital community resource, particularly since the pandemic upended our lives.

In Hickory, First UMC purchased tech devices (tablets, laptops, charging stations) to provide an after-school homework lab for elementary age students as well as computer training classes for older adults.

In Morganton, Denton's Chapel UMC invested in recording equipment to offer high-quality, interactive livestream worship. The upgrades "made a world of difference in the way Denton’s Chapel does church and offers Christ to all," said Rev. Phillip Hefner.

The Reynolds team is excited to support new avenues for innovation in the coming year.

"Every penny granted from the Reynolds Ministry Fund is given with the hope that new disciples will be made," said Caroline Cox, director of Reynolds Ministries and Programs.

The Appalachian District Church Vitality Team has been prayerfully seeking ways to help support you and the ministries of your local congregation during this COVID-19 pandemic. Together they have diligently researched and connected with others throughout the conference and our denomination to identify resources and offer them to you. We hope they will be helpful to you and bless you greatly in leading your churches and communities through this unprecedented time. We are very grateful to the District Vitality Team and other contributors for their great work on this resource.
This faithful team has created three documents, two of which you are receiving today. They include:

  • Family Home Worship – designed to help families establish a regular worship space within their homes as well as a time where they can worship together.
  • Tech Strategies – to help guide you in selecting effective tools and resources within your budget to best communicate in the digital world.

We believe these resources will be of great benefit to you. Also know that the District Vitality Team is available to answer any questions you might have in regards to the documents attached. If you have questions, you may email Rev. Howard Fleming at hfleming@wnccumc.net.
