Eating Together Faithfully
Regional Training Retreats
November 15-17, 2019
Camp Chestnut Ridge, Efland, NC
April 30 - May 2, 2020
Methodist Theological School of Ohio, Delaware, OH
Space is limited in our Fall 2019 Training Retreat in North Carolina and scholarships are still available!
Have you wanted your community to have deeper conversations about how our faith informs the ways we eat? Would you like your church to have a more theological approach to community meals? Do you desire for your community to gather around good food for discussions about how to better care for each other and all our neighbors in creation?
If so, becoming a trained facilitator of Eating Together Faithfully might be a next step for you in your community. Eating Together Faithfully is a framework for conversation designed to lead communities through eight discussions around eight meals to learn what it means to eat with God's intentions for all creation in mind.
For more information about the framework itself check out our website https://lifearoundthetable.org/curriculum/
Our Training Retreats will help prepare you as a facilitator of the Eating Together Faithfully framework and connect you with others doing this work in their own communities. It is a weekend of learning and encouraging each other as well as of imagining what faithful eating looks like in your own community.
Cost and Scholarships
Thanks to generous funding from The Duke Endowment, the cost of the North Carolina Training Retreat in November is just $300 for one participant, including all room and board, training and materials. An additional discount is offered for two people from the same church/organization, just $400 for two participants, including all room and board, training and materials.
We want everyone at the table and we are committed to helping congregations secure scholarship funding if needed. Ask us about:
- FULL scholarships for NC UMC ethnic and minority churches,
- FULL scholarships for NC ELCA churches,
- assistance securing additional need-based scholarships.
Costs and details for the April Training Retreat in Ohio will be available soon. And more regional retreats for 2020 are being planned. Stay in touch to learn more!
We hope you will join us around the table . . . and extend the table into your communities!

|What is Eating Together Faithfully?
Eating Together Faithfully: A Framework for Conversation is an ecumenical, experiential, community-based resource for use in congregations and communities developed by Life Around the Table. We work with ecumenical congregations to develop Communities of Practice as they study and practice a way of living based on food that LAUGHS:
Local / incarnation
Affordable / grace
Uncomplicated / ordinary made holy
Good / justice
Healthy / flourishing
Seasonal / time and liturgy
Our eight-session small group resource, engages participants in shared community learning. Participants explore the theological and practical implications of each of these words for their lives, their communities, and our world. Over simple meals together around the table and through guided study, participants learn what it means to eat with God’s intentions for all creation in mind.
