Conference Council on Campus Ministries hosts second training for local campus ministry boards

The Conference Council on Campus Ministries recently hosted a training retreat for local campus ministry boards on March 22 and 23 at the Catholic Conference Center in Hickory. Those in attendance represted six of the seven campus ministries in Western North Carolina Conference.

Worship thru out the weekend was led by the campus ministers from the campus ministries in WNC.

Rev. Kim Ingram, Conference Secretary and member of the Western NC General Conference delegation, began the weekend by sharing about the action taken by the 2019 General Conference and its potential impact on campus ministry.

Later in the afternoon Susan Cothern, Director of Ministry Services at the United Methodist Foundation, led a workshop on was campus ministries could reach out and maximize their fundraising efforts.

On Saturday Luke Edwards shared about Fresh Expressions and how that can be a model for campus ministry.

Opportunity was given for the members of each local board to meet, get together in small groups to discuss their learnings and to create a plan of practice to implement things they learned during the training.

The purpose of the WNC Council on Campus Ministry is to empower those responsible for ministry on campus so that students will become “disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The council hopes to have more gatherings like this in the future.
