Appalachian District Vitality Associate
Rev. Gloria Hughes joined the staff of the Appalachian District Office as the Church Vitality Strategist in July of 2018. Prior to coming to the Appalachian District, she served Clemmons UMC where she led the congregation in Discipleship and Equipping the Laity for Ministry and Outreach. She has a passion for helping others develop faithful “followship” of Jesus and living into their own call as a passionate disciples of Jesus Christ. Gloria is a passionate lover of God and all God’s people.
Gloria is a founding partner for the Foundation for Christian Formation and also serves as the Executive Director of the Foundation. FCF Confirm leads a series of Confirmation retreats for churches in the Southeastern Jurisdiction of the UMC. She serves as the Executrive Director of the Foundation for Christian Formation.
Gloria is an ordained Deacon in the UMC and serves as the Chair of the Order of Deacons for the WNC Annual Conference.

Katie started working at the District Office on January 26, 2015. Her previous professions include HR, Insurance Work, Sales and being an at home mom. She enjoys the watching baseball (Phillies) and Football (Eagles) enjoying the outdoors, traveling, crafting and the number one on her list is spending time with her family! Katie and her husband Stacy have a combined family of 4 kids, Gracie (20), Brody (18), Ellie (16) and Beckley (4).
